School program for Mining Life

6.10 2023—18.2 2024
Anna-Stina Ulfström: anna-stina@tenstakonsthall.se

Tensta konsthall offers schools free guided tours and workshops for schools in the Järva area. During the autumn, we take on Oscar Lara's exhibition Mining Life, which includes stage designs, series, film and sound. Bring your class and get a guided tour or a workshop where we work on making comics, cartoons and our own zines with inspiration from the exhibition.

University preparation courses and adult courses, YH and art and culture courses are always welcome to book guided tours and workshops.

This is what Tensta konsthall offers:

Guided tours
During the guided tours, we give a general introduction to the konsthall and/or a viewing of our current exhibition. It's also possible to book a more thematic or in-depth viewing. The guided tours are free of charge for schools in the Järva area, art schools and SFI and can be offered within the framework of our opening hours on weekdays, which are Tuesday to Friday 11.00—17.00.

A guided tour lasts approximately 40 minutes for a maximum of 30 people per guided tour.
A workshop lasts between 60—90 minutes for a maximum of 30 people per session. Materials are included in the workshops.

Exhibition-based screenings and workshops for Mining Life

Workshops (60—90 min)

For elementary and middle school
Create a Super Large Drawing – Together, we dig deeper into the exhibition Mining Life by Oscar Lara and create a joint large series drawing without beginning or end. We work with the materials marker, carbon and textile.

For junior high school and upper secondary school

Create a cartoon
With inspiration from our current exhibition, the students can try their hand at working graphically with cartoon creation on site in the art gallery. Each strip or box becomes part of a common zine that can be followed digitally and analogically.

For everyone
With textile as a sign We take a closer look at the reproductions of the famous 2000-year-old Paracas textiles recreated and displayed in Mining Life and approach the exhibition with a focus on textile craftsmanship and the importance of cultural heritage. Can cultural objects gain their meaning by being separated from their context?

For everyone
Experimental – In this workshop, anything can happen. We use chance as a method and start from a word, a shape, a material or a part of an exhibition and work investigatively and practically on site in the art gallery.

Cost
Guided tour of current exhibition (40 min) – 700 SEK
Tour and workshop (60—90 min) – 900 SEK

Tours are offered within the konsthall's opening hours, Tuesday—Friday 11.00—17.00
Free for schools in the Järva area, art schools and SFI.
