Institution(ing)s consists of eight organizations of varying sizes, with different influences and target groups in seven European countries, representing the diversity of the cultural ecosystem.
Q&A and short break
19.00—19.30, Tendencies towards simplification. The need for complication, presentation by Yuliia Hnat
Drawing on Ukraine’s wartime cultural experience, Yuliia Hnat reflects on how institutions operate under conditions of radical simplification — when survival demands the reduction of complexity in governance, policy, and cultural practice. She argues that today this simplicity has become a threat to resilience and meaning. Through the work of MOCA NGO and the development of UMCA as a decentralized museum model, the talk explores the urgent need to “complicate” — to restore and cultivate depth, reflection, and plurality within cultural infrastructures, narratives, and cross-fields collaboration.
In collaboration with Martí Manen / CuratorLab, Konstfack / University of Arts, Crafts and Design.
